The naming of Live Embrace

Was it a long story that we came up with our band name Live Embrace?

I traced back to our email conversations on this... more than one year ago when we discussed whether we would go for SoundLives'07. In one of the emails, we mentioned the purpose of the band and the members to be invited + instruments to have...also about something...

This morning on the bus coming back to UBC, I was listening to some song, looking out of the window... there's sunshine, blue sky...beautiful flowers ...there were ppl, there were ... so much into life that just warmed and touched my heart... A word then that came across my mind: Em'Brace ! A powerful two-syllable word that implies so much in itself.

I would like to suggest using Em'Brace/Embrace as our band's name, meaning embrace God, embrace life, embrace love and passion,... embrace music ... our dreams our purpose... embrace everything Father created and said it was good... Embrace each other....

We didn't decide whether to form the band or not yet; i couldn't stop myself from thinking about it and imagining it. I still remember myself sitting and leaning by the window at the back of the bus..immersed by the sunshine...

"Embrace" stroke me as much as "Water" did to Helen Keller. .. Helen felt the water her teacher Anne Sullivan pumped onto her hand when the word "water" was spelled out on her hand at the same time by Anne. Helen immediately understood the meaning of "water" ...

Do I fully understand the meaning of "Embrace"? Let me think...
It implies a positive attitude. It has forms in action, emotion, and spirit. Is that how we would embrace life, embrace God?

then.. Daisy told us... Embrace, is already the name of a very popular English band... *cry in my heart* after hearing that... Erico and I tried to tweak "Embrace" a bit to make it unique for us..we thought of "Embracent"..etc.. What else? haha.. we came up with a few ~ which were honestly no good . ha... I was totally infatuated with "Embrace" .. but ... had to face the fact that it's taken..

However, later on, there's another strike, so in another email ...

I have been praying to God these days for Him to reveal His will on the forming of "our band". Cuz I am scared too. I really hope to make sure that this is God's will, as opposed to our will or my will.

And, what I getting is that "our band" won't be just a Christian band, instead ... a Worship band, as we live and continue to live our lives as worshippers responding to God's Glory. God will bring revival to our church and we will start from our worship.

The name of the band isn't important as long as we know our purpose. and I appreciate that you didn't mind my childishness and stubbornness about insisting on using the name "Embrace". Here and now, please once again forgive my childishness as I will suggest another name, that is, "Live" (as a verb).

How did "Live" and "Embrace" go together then? If I haven't remembered wrong, it's Vivian who first put them together and call it Live Embrace... I forgot about the occasion... maybe just very casually, she called it Live Embrace. then, Tah Dah. We became Live Embrace! haha..

...

I guess "Live" and "Embrace" are similar in a way that both implies the Hope, Passion, and Love for life. and ... God is the very Hope, Passion, and Love.

I really hope that this name Live Embrace will continue to remind us of our purpose in life individually, also as a team, the LivEmbrace worship band, and motivate us to live the fullest of our lives.
