"What do you usually do in the car?"
"I pray."
In my job search, I really forget to pray.
I have not prayed to God to show me the way.
I have not prayed to Him when I go to the sites for job listings ..
I have not prayed to Him when I apply to any jobs..
I have not prayed to Him when I go into an interview.. Maybe I did.. but I just don't remember any more?
I don't know how to pray about my career and my future...for myself...
I went to UBC twice for career consultation. It's a one on one appointment. When I first met the lady... before I said too much... based on my resume... she could tell that I have a thing in baking.. I was just so surprised she could tell that just by looking at my resume where I mentioned baking in the last section: interest.
How could she? How could she speak so confidently about it too? She told me.. you will want to look at the unique thing from each resume...She certainly paid attention to details and had the heart to identify the uniqueness in each person..
Then, she showed me how I should do my job research instead of simply checking the job listings. It's a way to include my skills and interest. ... When she showed me the potential companies... I was almost touched to tears.. I don't know...
...
Last Thursday I went to see her again to report my research results ... At the end of the session... I asked her about her education background... I was thinking about human resources or something along the line... she told me.. she did counseling psychology in university... then through some experience with and in the computer industry... there she is now working with computer science students to advice career exploration and etc. at UBC.
"How do you help people who have problem expressing themselves in words?"
"sometimes by drawing...some people like to take photos.. some people like certain music.. other ways of expressions.."
"You have to be very patient to be able to do that too."
...
"I pray too.. that I would have the patience ...and pray for the students.."
... (I didn't know she's a Christian..but I wasn't too surprised.)
"Where do you live?"
"I live in North Vancouver"
"How long is the ride from there to UBC?"
"about half hour to here in the morning.. and about one hour back after work.."
"What do you usually do in the car (such a long ride each day)?"
"I think and ... I pray...."
How hard is it to pray?
I really don't know ... where I will be.. and what I will be doing... it may turn out totally out of my expectation...
But.. it's not about where I will be and what I will be doing... It's about who I am.
I pray that You infuse me with your Faith and Vision.
Let me see You in my path..
Let me see Your heart for me..
Let me see myself..from Your perspective.
