Never thought too much about the Chinese word of it... until heard it from the radio today..
Besides an ear (耳), there's also a heart in it. One heart (一心). (the simplified version 听... has really lost the meaning of it..)
Listening is not just a skill.
You will understand someone only when you listen by heart.
Of course...
and I am learning.

yeah that's the way I was taught: 耳王十四一心 = 聽

What does "listen" has to do with 口(as 部首）?
And why "love" without heart but only friend?
