When I was at school in Shenzhen.. I barely read anything..
I thought I was smart enough to get high marks w/o doing the teacher's reading assignments.. mainly talking about the subject of Chinese. or maybe I just didn't care much. Remember in high school, my Chinese teacher always assigned us some books to read... especially during the winter / summer holidays.. we were assigned to read the most reputable ones, just to name a few, 紅樓夢, 水滸傳, 駱駝祥子, 文化苦旅... mmm I think I bought the books.. but I didn't read them. There exists many versions of 紅樓夢.. simple version, cartoon version.. I think I bought a simple version with lots of pictures instead of texts.. yet, I didn't read it either. I didn't read the books.. becuz.. I didn't like reading? I didn't find them interesting? I spent too much time playing? or I was just lazy.. ha.. well, when my Chinese teacher quizzed us about the books.. I was lucky enough not to be caught.
I don't know since when I have become to enjoy reading. Library is one of the favorite places I like to hang out when I am by myself. What remains the same is ... I still don't like reading long stories/novels.. (fictional or not).
The day before, during lunch time, I took a walk from my company to the library in Ironwood mall. I enjoyed the walk. The weather was so nice...the sky was so blue ... with little cloud. . the air was so fresh... and the heat/warm temperature was comforting. I was so excited to go into the library. I didn't have anything in mind I want to borrow. I didn't have a subject in mind.. I just used their computer and randomly searched for book titles.. thought for a while.. I typed "why" as the search key word. I was hoping it would show me something like "十萬個為什麼" or similar..but not really. Some titles were quite interesting and entertaining.. as I scanned through the list. .. I had some good laugh ...
at the end, I borrowed this one "I wonder why lemons taste sour and other questions about senses". located in the Junior section.
yea. I wonder why.
...
Time for me to gain some common sense(s).
It's a very thin book. I finished it within an hour. I think I have gained some not so common sense(s). or maybe they are, I just didn't know.. ? no wonder.. I don't have much common sense .. ?
